Central government is providing free electricity to people. For that, the government has started a new scheme. 300 units of free electricity will be provided to people under PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. The scheme has been approved by the Union Cabinet. Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, people have to install solar panels on the roof of their houses for electricity.

Apply online like this

1. First of all you have to register on national portal www.pmsuryagarh.gov.in.

2. This work has to be done by selecting the State and Electricity Distribution Company.

3. Enter your electricity customer number, mobile number and email id.

4. After registration one can login with customer number and mobile number.

5. Customer can apply for rooftop solar by filling the form on the portal.

6. Then you have to wait for approval from local discom. The government said that once approval is given, its discoms will have to install solar plants from any registered vendor.

How to get subsidy

The list of vendors included in the panel is on the portal. The national portal will help in providing important information like right system size, benefit calculator, vendor rating etc. After installation, the customer has to submit the plant details and apply for the net meter.

A commissioning certificate will be generated on the portal after the net meter is installed and inspected by the Discom. On receipt of the commissioning report, the customer has to deposit the bank account details and canceled check through the portal. You will get subsidy in bank account within 30 days.
