Why name of Babri Masjid changed in new book of Political Science in NCERT Class-12?
NCERT Class 12th New Textbook : The name of Babri Masjid has been removed from the new textbook of NCERT 12th Political Science. It has been replaced by a three-domed structure. The new book lays more emphasis on the Ram Mandir movement.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has renamed Babri Masjid in the new Class 12 Political Science textbook. Many references to the demolition of the Babri Masjid have been removed in the new book and more emphasis has been placed on the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir movement. Let's find out why the name of Babri Masjid has been changed in the new book.
A new chapter was prepared after revision
Regarding this, NCERT Director Dinesh Saklani said that the changes were made by the experts for that reason. Because the books didn't want to create violent, depressed citizens. He said he was not directly involved in making the changes and experts did what they thought was appropriate as per 'global practices'. A new chapter was prepared by examining and revising the old chapter.
Name removed under what?
Saklani said that removing the reference to Babri Masjid is in line with the Supreme Court's decision. The new edition of the textbook was released three months ago after the changes were announced. The Babri Masjid is not named in the book and the new book describes it as a three-domed structure. He said the experts decided what to call it and what not.
You can get information from other places
He said, this NCERT book is a short book. If a student or anyone else is interested in researching this topic, they can read about it elsewhere. We cannot stop the curious from reading and researching, Saklani said.
What's in the book now?
However, the NCERT has said that the altered version states that the age-old legal and political dispute over the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya began to influence Indian politics, giving rise to various political changes.
The Ramjanmabhoomi temple movement, becoming a central issue, changed the direction of secularism and democracy. These changes have resulted in the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya following the decision of the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court. (Which was announced on November 9, 2019).
