What is PM Housing Scheme?

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is a government scheme that helps people build their own houses. About 2.5 lakh rupees are provided by the government. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) benefits not only the poor, but now the urban poor and middle class have also been brought under its purview.

There are many categories based on income and loans are given based on that category. Initially, the home loan amount under PMAY was Rs 3 to 6 lakh and was subsidized, but it has been increased to Rs 18 lakh.

  • After this go to the official website http://pmaymis.gov.in.
  • Click on Citizen Assessment under the main menu and select the category of applicant.
  • You will be redirected to a separate page where you have to enter your Aadhaar details.
  • Fill the online PMAY application with your personal, income, bank account details and current residential address.
  • Enter the captcha code, verify the information correctly and submit.

Apply this way offline

Go to your nearest Common Service Center and fill the form from there. These centers are run by government agencies. You have to pay Rs 25 plus GST for offline form filling. Bear in mind that no private agency has been given less to collect or deposit this money. If you want, you can also fill the form by visiting any bank, non-banking finance company or housing finance company. Submit photocopies of all the documents mentioned in the form along with the form.

In order to avail the benefit of PM Awas Yojana the applicant has to submit some important documents. The most important of these are identity certificates like Aadhaar Card, PAN Card and Voter ID Card. Address certificate also has to be submitted. Along with this you have to attach a copy of income certificate. In which you can provide copy of Form 16, bank account statement or latest IT return.

Weaker sections will benefit from the scheme

Only those economically weaker sections will get the benefit of this scheme whose income is not more than 3 lakh rupees. Those in the Lower Income Group or LIG, whose income is between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 6 lakh, will get the benefit. People with middle income group or MIG earning between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 18 lakh will be given the benefit of PM Awas Yojana. People living in slums are also given financial assistance under this scheme.
