Unseasonal rain forecast in Gujarat, Agriculture Director appeals to farmers to take precautionary measures
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there will be rain in Gujarat for the next four days. Crops are sometimes damaged due to unseasonal rains. As a precaution, the Agriculture Directorate has asked the farmers of the state to take precautionary measures.
The Meteorological Department has predicted rainy weather in Gujarat for the next 4 days. Light rain is predicted in Banaskantha, Sambarkatha, Navsari, Valsad, Aravalli, Dahod, Mahisagar, Dang, Chotaudepur, Narmada, Tapi, Surat, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir-Somnath, Rajkot, Suredranagar and Botad districts of Gujarat.
Keeping in view the cloudy weather and rains, farmers are naturally taking some appropriate measures to protect the crops, but the agriculture directorate's office has asked the farmers of the state to take precautionary measures.
Be careful with harvested crops
Regarding precautionary measures for crop protection during rains, the office of director of agriculture has informed that, to avoid crop loss due to unseasonal rains, farmers should not keep the crops produced in the field and the crops harvested in the field in the open.
If the crop is in the open, first move it to a safe place immediately or cover the crop properly with plastic/tarpaulin. In addition, make a soil embankment on the rotating side of the pile. So that the rain water can stop going down the pile.
Avoid using pesticides
As mentioned further, application of pesticides and fertilizers to the crop should be avoided during the rainy season. Fertilizer and seed sellers should also take precautionary measures to keep the quantity in godown or closed place so that it does not get wet.
Apart from this, to protect grains and agricultural produce from rain in APMC and to avoid or protect produce coming for sale in APMC during these days.
