NHAI has decided to increase toll tax by an average of five percent across the country. Motorists plying on the highway will now have to pay more from Monday. That means toll tax is going to increase from tonight itself.

Effective from this date

NHAI will implement toll rates pending for two months from 12 midnight on Monday. The hike, which was supposed to take effect from April 1, was put on hold due to the code of conduct imposed due to the general elections in the country. Which is now being implemented from tonight.

The fee for new users will be applicable from June 3, 2024, a senior NHAI official said on Sunday. The change in toll tax is part of the annual process of revising rates based on wholesale price index (CPI) inflation changes. There are approximately 855 user fee plazas on the National Highway Network, at which customers are charged as per the National Highway Fee Rules, 2008.

On which highway do you have to pay the highest toll?

If you want to travel on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, you will now have to pay Rs 125 toll on this expressway. Here the toll rate is fixed according to different distances. Toll on Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) and Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) will be increased by 5 percent from Monday.

Four-wheelers or small vehicles Rs. 45 to Rs. 160 toll, while heavy vehicles have to pay a toll of Rs. 40 to Rs. 250 toll will have to be paid. At present, the highway authorities charge Rs. per kilometer on the 135-km expressway. 2.19 charges a toll.
