In many countries of the world, there is a competition to buy the most weapons, so that they can maintain their influence in the world. For that they are spending more on weapons. Among them is the news that India has become the country that buys the most weapons in the world. India buys most arms from Russia. It is followed by France, which sells 33 percent of arms to India. At number three is the US, which sells 13 percent of arms to India. China supplies the largest 66 percent of arms to India's neighboring country Pakistan. Due to which Pakistan has increased 43 percent in importing weapons.

Pakistan became the fifth largest arms importer in 2019-23. While China has reduced the import of arms by 44 percent. Meanwhile, China's two East Asian neighbors, Japan and South Korea, have increased spending on arms purchases. Japan has increased by 155 percent and South Korea by 6.5 percent.

Even though Russia is the largest supplier of arms to India at 36 percent, this is the first time that Russia has reached the third position in terms of arms exports. Russia's exports fell by 53 percent between 2014-2018 and 2019-2023. On the other hand, Europe's arms imports have almost doubled in 2019-2023 compared to 2014-18. Behind it is the two-year-old Russia-Ukraine war.

Many countries supplied arms as military aid to Ukraine only after the start of the war. This is why Ukraine emerged as the fourth largest importer in the world in 2019-2023.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt are also among the top 10 importers for 2019-23. Saudi Arabia was the world's second largest arms importer, accounting for 8.4 percent of global arms imports in 2019-2023. Qatar nearly quadrupled its arms imports between 2014-18 and 2019-23, making it the world's third-largest arms importer in 2019-23.
