'Special Action Force' to be formed to stop riots-violence, all police stations to be upgraded to PI rank

Major changes in the state's police and security arrangements are being made by the Home Department. Security and safety are being specially enhanced along with equipping the police with advanced equipment. Special type of new teams are also being prepared for this in the state. For example, special forces will also be developed to deal with communal riots.

A special force will be developed as part of the zero tolerance policy towards incidents of communal riots and violence in the state. The Home Department will try to develop the Ahmedabad group of the State Reserve Police Force as a Special Action Force. The information for this was given by the state home minister Harsh Sanghvi in the assembly house.

The Home Department is now also working on achieving a response time of 10 minutes in urban areas and 30 minutes in rural areas. The Home Department is planning to target the police department to achieve response time, under which new 1100 vehicles and police staff will be allocated. For this, dial 112 number will now be used in the state.

200 out posts in the state will also be upgraded. This action is being taken up under Gram Suraksha Kavach Yojana. In which Head Constable, ASI and PSI will be upgraded. Where one police constable will be allotted one bike.

In the future, all police stations will be in charge of police inspectors. That means PI level officers will be in charge of the police station instead of PSI level officers. This work will be completed in three phases. Also, one IT expert post will be created in all police stations.

A state-of-the-art state-level cyber unit will be prepared in the state. Actions in this direction are to be taken in all the districts under Trishul Yojana.

Safety and mobility infrastructure in metros will be strengthened. For this, action will be taken under Sugam Yojana and 1000 new posts of traffic police will be created. Modern technical equipment will also be made available.
