Share Market Opening Bell: Today on Thursday, the stock market has seen softness. In the last session, fluctuations were recorded in the global market. Gift Nifty also slipped to 22000 level. Earlier on Wednesday, Sensex closed down 906 points at 72,761.

Share Market Opening Bell: Today on Thursday, the stock market has seen softness. In the last session, fluctuations were recorded in the global market. Gift Nifty also slipped to 22000 level. Earlier on Wednesday, Sensex closed down 906 points at 72,761.

Stock Market Opening (14 March 2024)

  • SENSEX : 72,570.10 −191.79  
  • NIFTY : 21,982.55 −15.15  

Yesterday's trade saw heavy selling in the market. Smallcap and midcap indices saw major declines. Yesterday was the worst session for both the indices in the last 2 years.

No buying was seen in any other sector except the FMCG sector. However, even in a falling market yesterday ITC closed with gains after the block deal. 45 out of 50 Nifty stocks closed in the red.

A weak signal for global markets

US markets were also seen sliding from record highs yesterday. However, the Dow Jones remained in the green. The S&P 500 index and the Nasdaq closed with losses. Maximum pressure was seen in semiconductor companies. Also, profit booking was seen in major tech stocks. In America, the rate will be announced on March 20.

Asian markets are witnessing extensive business today. Japan's Nikkei index is down 0.44%. South Korea's Kospi index rose 0.38%. Hang Seng Index and Shanghai Composite Index are showing positive momentum.

Statistics of FIIs-DII

Foreign institutional investors sold shares worth ₹ 4,595.06 crore in the cash market yesterday. Whereas, domestic institutional investors bought shares worth ₹9093.72 crore in the cash market yesterday.

Keep an eye on the shares of these three companies

  • Reliance Industries: RIL to buy 13% stake in Viacom from Paramount Global for ₹4286 crore in '18. After this deal, RIL's stake in Viacom will increase by 18. This share will increase from 57.48% to 70.49%.
  • ITC : This stock saw a big block deal in which BAT has sold some stake. ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund bought 0.99% or 12.4 crore shares. Apart from this, Singapore Government bought 9.15 crore shares, BofA Securities Europe 2.04 crore, Societe Generale 1.83 crore, Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore 1.53 crore and many others.
  • Tata Motors: Tata Motors said it has signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to set up a vehicle manufacturing facility in the state. According to the MOU, an investment of Rs 9000 crore will be made on this facility.
