The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has raided the house of former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik. However, Satyapal Malik is currently admitted to the hospital due to illness. Regarding the CBI raid, Satyapal Malik said, I am a farmer's son, I am not afraid of this CBI raid. He said that I am sick for last 3-4 days and admitted in hospital. Despite this, my house is being raided. In the raid CBI will find nothing except my 4-5 kurtas and pyjamas.

Former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Malik said that my driver and my assistant are also being raided and harassed unnecessarily. I am a farmer's son, I am not afraid of this raid. I am with the farmers. It may be mentioned here that the CBI team is raiding 30 other places including Malik's house. In fact, the cases in which Satyapal Malik's house is being raided are related to the Kiru Hydro Project in Jammu and Kashmir.

What is the whole matter?

Kiru Hydro Electric Project Case Rs. 2200 crore related to alleged corruption in the awarding of civil works contracts. Malik claimed that between 23 August 2018 and 30 October 2019, when he was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, he was offered a bribe of Rs 300 crore to approve the two files.

CBI registered two FIRs

The CBI registered two FIRs in connection with the corruption allegations leveled by Satyapal Malik. The agency had registered a case against Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, former chairman of Chenab Valley Power Projects Power Limited, and other former officials MS Babu, MK Mittal and Arun Kumar Mishra and Patel.

E-tendering guidelines have not been followed

It was alleged that e-tendering guidelines were not followed in the allocation of civil works related to Kiru Hydro Project. It is further alleged that in the 47th board meeting of CVPPPL it was decided that the contract will be re-allocated through e-tendering along with reverse auction. But in the 48th board meeting of CVPPPL, the decision of the previous meeting was reversed.

What is Kiru Hydro Power Project?

Kiru Hydro Electric Project is proposed on river Chenab located in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. In the year 2019, the Modi Cabinet approved the investment of Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt Ltd for the construction of this project. The construction work of this project is still going on. It is expected to be completed in the year 2025. The project will cost Rs 4287.59 crore to complete.
