Mother Kaikeyi loved Lord Rama more than her son Bharata, so why did she ask for fourteen years of exile for Lord Rama on the advice of Manthra. Let us tell you the story of Ram.
According to the story of the Ramayana, mother Kaikeyi sent Lord Rama on a fourteen-year exile to place her son on the throne. After seeking exile from King Dasaratha for Lord Rama, Mata Kaikeyi became a hated character throughout the world. According to mythology, it is believed that Mother Kaikeyi knew that by doing so the whole world would shower her with hatred, yet she sought Rama's exile for some special reasons.
Mother Kaikeyi took this decision to protect Raghuvamsa.
It is believed that Mata Kaikeyi sought fourteen years of exile from Lord Rama to save King Dasaratha or Raghuvamsa. The reason was that Sravana Kumara was killed by King Dasharatha's arrow. Shravan Kumar's father had cursed King Dasharatha that just as his son was bereft, similarly King Dasharatha would be bereft of a son and he would also die bereft of a son.
Actually, Rani Kaikeyi was the daughter of King Aswapati and the father of Sravana Kumar, the royal priest of Aswapati, was Ratan Rishi. Ratan Rishi told Queen Kaikeyi that none of King Dasharatha's children would be able to sit on the throne. Also, according to astrological calculations, he said that after the death of King Dasharatha, if any son sat on the throne for fourteen years, the entire Raghuvamsa would be destroyed. To save Raghuvamsa from destruction, Mata Kaikeyi took this drastic decision, which left her image as a bad mother forever.
