PV Sindhu and Sharat Kamal have been made flag bearers for the opening ceremony. So Gagan Narang, who won the bronze medal in the 10m Air Rifle event in the 2012 Olympic Games, has been entrusted with the Chef-D mission this time.

The IOC changed the protocol in 2020 to allow one female and one male athlete from each country to be joint flag bearers. Mary Kom and Indian hockey captain Manpreet Singh were the flag bearers at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11 and India will send a contingent of over 100 players for this.
