The Supreme Court has given its verdict on the issue of NEET-UG paper leak. The court has made it clear that the NEET exam will not be conducted again. In its decision, the court said it did not find sufficient evidence of malpractice in the examination. The Supreme Court has also ordered the NTA to re-declare the results of the entire NEET exam.

The court said that the NEET-UG 2024 examination result lacked material to conclude that there were irregularities or any systematic flaw in it. A bench of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala on Monday told the IIT-Delhi director of physics that there was only one correct answer to a controversial physics question asked in the exam, after a three-expert committee of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi told the Supreme Court that there was only one correct answer. A team of three subject experts was asked to form a team on this controversial question and submit the correct answer by Tuesday afternoon.

  3. The CBI has indicated that the material shows that 155 students selected from examination centers in Hazaribagh and Patna appear to be the beneficiaries of the fraud.
  4. The Supreme Court in its decision said that we have independently examined the data of the National Testing Agency i.e. NTA. In such a situation it is not appropriate to cancel the entire examination.
  5. The paper was leaked in Patna and Hazaribagh, indicating that 155 students would benefit from the leak. Currently CBI is investigating this matter. He has also filed his status report.
  6. At this stage there is absence of evidence or material on record from which it can be concluded that the result of the examination has been tainted or the sanctity of the examination has been systematically violated.
  7. IIT Delhi has approved one of the exam options for Nuclear Theory question through NTA. Due to which the result will change.
  8. 13 lakh students will face change in ranking. Because IIT-D has given one of the two options approved by NTA for Atomic Theory question.
  9. The court realized that issuing new instructions for NEET-UG for the current year would have dire consequences, affecting more than 24 lakh students appearing for the exam.
  10. If the inquiry reveals an increase in the number of beneficiaries, action will be taken against any such student at any stage even after the completion of the counseling process.
