IND vs SL: Entry of 'Sunil Narayan' in Team India! Gautam Gambhir took a big decision
The T20 series against Sri Lanka will be Gautam Gambhir's first series as head coach and even before the start he has made up his mind to do something that will surprise the Indian fans. According to reports coming from Pallekele, Gautam Gambhir has got Team India's Sunil Narine.
Get into the field and attack the bowlers. Raining sixes and fours and pushing the opposition back in the powerplay itself, Gautam Gambhir adopted a similar strategy for Kolkata Knight Riders and as a result the team became the champions of IPL 2024. Now Gautam Gambhir is going to apply the IPL formula to Team India as well.
Sunil Narayan of Team India!
According to the news coming from Pallekele, Gautam Gambhir has found a player who will play exactly like Sunil Narine. The onus will be on him to go to the crease and hit only sixes and fours. The player is none other than off-spinner Washington Sundar, whom Gautam Gambhir has decided to play the role of Sunil Narine.
Washington Sundar got a hard hitting role
According to reports from Pallekele, Gautam Gambhir has roped in Washington Sundar for the hard hitting role. The player was sent to bat at number 3 in two consecutive practice sessions. Sundar practiced long distance hitting while batting. Meaning he was only asked to hit sixes and fours. This was the kind of batting that Sunil Narine bats. Interestingly, Washington Sundar is a left-handed batsman and like Narine, he is also a spin bowler.
There is power in Gambhir's planning
Gautam Gambhir's plan to have Washington Sundar in Sunil Narayan's role is strong. Bats really well. He has proved this in international matches as well. The 24-year-old has also scored half-centuries in all three formats T20, ODIs and Tests. Last year, Sundar proved his mettle by scoring 50 off just 26 balls in a T20 match against New Zealand in Ranchi. However, Team India lost that match. But there is no doubt that this player can hit hard. Now it remains to be seen whether Gambhir's experiment succeeds or not.
