The schedule for the ICC World Cup 2023, which will be hosted by India, is expected to be announced today. This marks the first time that India will host the prestigious ODI World Cup 2023 solely on its own.
A media invite for the occasion is circulating on social media, revealing that the event will take place at the Astor Ballroom, St. Regis in Lower Parel, Mumbai.
According to reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had already shared a draft schedule with the participating nations in early June. The draft outlined the proposed fixtures and venues for the upcoming tournament.
The delay in announcing the schedule for the ODI World Cup 2023 is attributed to various technical factors, with one significant issue being a point of contention between India and Pakistan. The participation of Pakistan in the cricket world cup remains uncertain. In a recent development, ICC Chairman Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice visited Pakistan to persuade the PCB Chief to ensure the participation of Pakistani players in the upcoming World Cup hosted by India.
The ICC commenced the World Cup festivities by sending the prestigious trophy on a unique journey. The trophy was lifted 120,000 feet above the Earth using a stratospheric balloon before finally landing it at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The cricketing body shared captivating images of the ODI World Cup trophy at the edge of the Earth's atmosphere.
The 2023 Trophy Tour is set to be the largest to date, providing an opportunity for fans across various cities worldwide to engage with the prestigious silverware. The trophy will embark on a journey to 18 countries, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, USA, Nigeria, Uganda, France, Italy, the United States of America, and India.
10 venues will be playing host– Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata. Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram in addition to Hyderabad will host the warm-up matches from 29 September to 3 October. No match of India at the iconic Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
