Haldwani violence: 'Conspiracy to burn officers alive..', orders to shoot miscreants

More than 100 policemen have been injured. According to the police, orders have been given to shoot the anti-social elements who are spreading unrest in the city on sight.

Miscreants created a ruckus in Haldwani city of Uttarakhand on Thursday evening. Police vehicles and bikes parked outside the police station were set on fire. The policemen present inside the police station were beaten up. The police station was also attacked with stones and petrol bombs.

More than 100 policemen injured

However, heavy police deployment has been made in the city after the commotion. District Officer Vandana Singh said that an attempt was made to burn the officers present at the police station alive. More than 100 policemen have been injured. According to the police, orders have been given to shoot the anti-social elements who are spreading unrest in the city on sight.

The DM said that illegal madrassas built in the city are being bulldozed on court orders. Meanwhile the crowd had become furious. After this, the mob attacked the police station. The encroachment removal team was also pelted with stones. Houses and shops were also pelted with stones. Half an hour after the encroachment was removed, an incident of violence took place in the city. DM Vandana Singh said that there was a crowd near the police station, but no policeman had any dispute with the crowd. However, the miscreants beat up the policemen inside the police station.

Campaign against encroachment in the city for 15 days

DM Vandana Singh said that a campaign against illegal encroachment is being conducted in Haldwani for the last 15-20 days on the order of the court. A task force has been formed to remove the encroachment. Work is being done to remove encroachments from the roads of Halwad city and widen them. Officials have been given guidelines in this regard.

Notices were issued to the encroachers

DM Vandana Singh said that a notice has been given to the encroachers. An attempt was made to find a solution by listening to the problems of all people. Meanwhile, some people appealed to the Supreme Court. Some people got time from court and some people didn't. On behalf of those who are not found, removal of encroachments from their occupied premises has been undertaken by the Municipal Corporation and PWD. This means that the action was not to remove any one property. Rather, this was already being acted upon. For a long time there was a drive to free government properties from encroachment and to protect them in Haldwani.
