Cybercrime cases in India have increased at an alarming rate in the last few years. In such a situation, the central government is making continuous efforts to control it. The Department of Telecommunication of the Central Government has informed that more than 2500 fraud connections are being terminated every day across the country through the Sanchar Sathi portal. With the help of this portal launched last year, the government is trying to protect mobile users from fraud.

How does the communication partner portal work?

Department of Telecom sends verification code to mobile number through Sanchar Saathi portal. If the user fails to verify this code repeatedly, such mobile number is considered fake and the connection is disconnected. In recent times, many questions have been raised on this process adopted by partner portals.

Statement of DoT

Talking about the process of checking fake connections through Sanchar Sathi portal, officials of the Department of Telecom have informed that the connections terminated using the Sanchar Sathi portal are fake and not a single complaint has been registered against this portal yet.

Along with this, this portal has helped to balance the investigation. DoT is going to launch the app version of this portal soon. The department has also informed that a grievance redressal portal will also be launched soon where complaints can be lodged regarding accidental disconnection.

Launched 'Chakshu' platform

Recently, the central government has launched Chakshu platform to stop spam messages, calls or phishing. At the same time, a digital intelligence platform has been launched to prevent cyber crimes in banks, cyber crimes on social media and other platforms. With the help of these two portals, the Reserve Bank and the Financial Services Department have succeeded in preventing fraud of Rs 1,008 crore.
