Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has made major changes in the rules of procedure. Announcing the directives on Monday, the Chief Justice said that all offices of the Supreme Court will function from 10 am to 5 pm. Along with this, it was also said that the offices of the Supreme Court will be closed only on the second and fourth Saturday of every month.

Court offices will now open during court holidays on the direction of the CJI. However, the court will be closed on public holidays. These amendments will be implemented from August 1, 2024. Court offices will be open during court holidays and vacations as directed by the Chief Justice.

The court is hearing many important cases

Many important cases are being heard in the Supreme Court these days. On the NEET issue, the Supreme Court on Monday said that to resolve the issue regarding the correct answer, we believe that an expert opinion should be sought from IIT Delhi. The court has further asked that an expert committee be formed and the correct answer be decided by this evening. The next hearing in this matter will be held on Tuesday. On this day, the central government and NTA will have to present their arguments.

A stay on the UP government's order on the nameplate dispute

The Supreme Court also heard the Kavad Yatra nameplate controversy on Monday. The court has given a big decision in this matter. The Supreme Court had placed an interim stay on the orders of the UP and Uttarakhand governments. Also, a response has been sought from the Madhya Pradesh government.

The court in its order has said that the shopkeepers need not disclose their identity. Only the types of food need to be mentioned. It will be important to state whether the food is vegetarian or non-vegetarian. The order will remain on hold until the states respond. The next hearing of the case will be on July 26.
