However, while talking to NDTV, Mary Kom clarified the statement made at the event and said, 'My words have been misrepresented. I am on the verge of retirement. I have not retired.'

My statement misrepresented

She further said, 'I was participating in a school function in Dibrugarh on January 24 where I was cheering the children. I said that I still have the hunger to reach new heights in sports but there is an age limit in the Olympics. Due to which I will not be able to participate in this situation. However, I can continue my sport and focus on fitness

According to ANI, Mary Kom said during the event, 'I am still hungry to play but unfortunately due to age limit I cannot participate in any competition. I want to play more but I am forced to retire due to age limit. I have to retire.'

Mary Kom has turned 41 years old. He won a bronze medal for India at the 2012 London Olympic Games. She has also been a 6-time world champion. Mary Kom is the only female boxer to do so. Apart from this, he is also the only player to win the Asian Championship 5 times.
