Big news ahead of India-England third Test, Rajkot Cricket Stadium to get a new name
The Test match between India and England is scheduled to start from 15th February in Rajkot.
Before that the name of the stadium will be changed. Currently matches are played at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The third Test between India and England could be held at the stadium in Rajkot with a changed name.
England won in Hyderabad and India won in Visakhapatnam, leveling the 5-Test series 1–1. Now the third Test will be played in Rajkot from 15th February. But before that, the identity of the stadium there will change. Its name will change. The India-England Test will be played at the newly named stadium in Rajkot.
Presently there is no name for the stadium in Rajkot. It is known only as the stadium of its state cricket association i.e. Saurashtra Cricket Association. But, a day before the India and England teams reach Rajkot and the third Test of the series between them begins here, the stadium will get a name that will become its identity.
According to the information, the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot is going to be named after the well-known cricket administrator Niranjan Shah. A cricket stadium will be named after Niranjan Shah a day before the start of India-England third Test.
India have played 2 Tests in Rajkot so far, winning 1 and drawing 1. The Test which was a draw was played by Team India against England in the year 2016. India and England will meet for the second time under the pretext of playing a Test in Rajkot. India played the last Test against West Indies in Rajkot in 2018 and won.
The first match of the Test series was played in Hyderabad, which England won. India won the second Test played in Visakhapatnam. The third Test is to be played in Rajkot. The 4th Test will be played in Ranchi while the 5th and final Test will be played in Dharamshala.
