Today is World Water Day. World Water Day is celebrated every year on March 22 to raise public awareness about water. Today we will learn about the success stories of Adani Group which has set a great example in water management. Adani Group has achieved unique achievements in water management through industry and social responsibility.

Water-efficient measures and approaches have been adopted to conserve water in industries ranging from ports to airports. The Jalshakti Award given to Adani Foundation recognizes its multifaceted activities in the field of water conservation.

Lack of clean water has been a challenge in India for years. Adani group companies have taken several decisive steps for water management. The company has developed a special system to utilize every drop of water in the business. Instant concrete mix proportion and modular curing solution based products used in the construction industry result in significant water savings.

The company has also taken commendable steps to ensure water security for both business operations and communities. According to a finding, Ambuja Cements was two times water positive in 2011 which became eight times in 2019 and has a name to make it 10 times water positive by 2030.

As far as social responsibility is concerned, water resource management has been given a lot of importance at Ambujanagar. These include micro-irrigation, water quality testing and prevention of sea salt intrusion. Door-to-door tap connections have been provided to coastal villages including check dams, ponds and construction of 4022+ RRWHS.

As for the airports, treated water is used to irrigate the saplings using state-of-the-art technology to prepare gardens and in-house nurseries. Water requirements are met using recycling techniques.

Adani Foundation is running various programs for water harvesting around APSEZ Mundra. The main objective of water harvesting program is to increase water storage along with maintenance of water sources, cleaning and repair of water bodies. Reservoir will provide sufficient water supply for irrigation or animal husbandry, the results of which can be a boon for Kutch.

Adani Group has realized the motto 'Water is Life' by adopting various measures. Such initiatives empower rural communities in terms of water management and also enhance the quality of life. The approach of rainwater harvesting has been adopted with the noble aim of preventing rainwater from flowing into the desert or the sea and having to hunt for water during the monsoon season. Considering the lakes as the temple of water god, a campaign is going on to deepen the lakes for more water storage.

Adani Foundation under Project 'Swajal' in Kutch has installed units of Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting (RRWH) structures, recharged wells and borewells, deepened ponds, constructed check dams and dams and installed 1505+ drip irrigation systems. Adani Foundation has been awarded the third National Water Award by the Ministry of Water Power for its outstanding performance in water conservation.
