Supreme Court bans excavation in Dhar Bhojshala, ASI survey will continue

Supreme Court refused to ban scientific survey in Dhar Bhojshala. The court said that the survey will be done as it happened in Gyanvapi, but the excavation will not be done in Dhar Bhojshala. The court has issued notices to the central government, ASI and Madhya Pradesh government.

The Supreme Court has banned digging in Dhar Bhojshala in Madhya Pradesh. The court said that no more digging will be done in Dhar Bhojshala premises. Whereas, the Supreme Court refused to ban the scientific survey in Dhar Bhojshala. The court said that after the ASI's survey, no action will be taken without the court's permission. The Supreme Court said that the survey will be done as it happened in Gyanvapi but the excavation will not be done in Dhar Bhojshala.

The Supreme Court said that there should be no such thing as physical excavation which would cause any change in the religious place. The Supreme Court issued a notice to all the parties on the application of the Muslim party. A reply has been sought from the Hindu party within four weeks. It may be mentioned here that the Muslim party has demanded a stay on the decision of the High Court.

Bhojshala Kamal Maulana Masjid or Saraswati Temple?

The Hindu community considers the Bhojshala complex to be a temple of Vagdevi (Saraswati), while the Muslim community always calls it Kamal Maulana's Masjid. The High Court's Indore bench in the matter had on March 11 ordered that the court had only come to a conclusion that it was the constitutional and legal responsibility of the ASI to carry out a scientific survey and study of the Bhojshala Mandir-cum-Kamal Maulana Masjid.

Raja Bhoje built a restaurant

It may be mentioned here that the Kamal Maulana Masjid in Dhar is actually the Maa Saraswati temple canteen. It was built by King Bhoje in 1034 AD for the study of Sanskrit. But later it was demolished by the Mughal invaders. The Hindu Front for Justice petitioned the High Court for a scientific survey of the complex, hearing which the Indore bench of the High Court ordered the ASI to conduct a scientific survey.
