Asian markets: Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.41%, while the Topix fell 0.28%. South Korea's Kospi gained 0.36% and the Kosdaq gained 0.63%. Hong Kong markets are closed today.
Wall Street: US stock markets closed mixed on Thursday. This included the S&P 500 recording its strongest first quarter in five years. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 47.29 points, or 0.12%, at 39,807.37 and the S&P 500 was up 5.86 points, or 0.11%, at 5,254.35. The Nasdaq Composite was down 20.06 points, or 0.12%, at 16,379.46. In the quarter ending March 2024, the Dow rose 5.62% and the S&P 500 rose 10.16%. While the Nasdaq rose 9.11%.
Top gainer
Shares of JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors and Larsen & Toubro were the top gainers in the Sensex.
VK Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Financial Services, said the bullish market will continue.
