Ranji Trophy Final: Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane recover from poor form

Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane have now batted to shake off their poor form. With his performance, he has played an important innings for his team in domestic cricket. In the final of the Ranji Trophy, Iyer and Rahane have batted with vigor on the Wankhede pitch. Both have been out of form for some time now. Neither the bat was working on the field nor things going on off the field were in their favor. Both are facing criticism from all sides. But, even under such stress and pressure, when it came to performing in a big match like the Ranji Trophy final, both Rahane and Iyer performed superbly.

It was during the Ranji Trophy final when Shardul Thakur was asked about the poor form of Rahane and Iyer. He then said that it won't last long, it's only a matter of time and both will regain their form soon. That's exactly what happened at the Wankhede and both players looked in batting colors as if their poor spell had come to an end.

Iyer and Rahane returned to form

Ajinkya Rahane failed in the Ranji Trophy tournament. He used to manage to touch double figures with great difficulty. However, he scored 73 runs in the second innings against Vidarbha. Shreyas Iyer also scored a brilliant fifty plus, that too just days after being stripped of his BCCI contract.

Iyer scored 95 runs off 111 balls. Thus, Iyer missed the century by only 5 runs and returned after being a victim of ninety nerves. He hit 3 sixes and 10 fours during this. However, he was caught out off Aditya Thackeray and returned. When he returned, Mumbai scored 332 runs on the scoreboard and that too at the loss of the fourth wicket. Thus Shreyas returned by strengthening the position of Mumbai.

Mumbai is in a strong position

In the final match, Mumbai has left Vidarbha behind both in terms of batting and bowling. Team Mumbai, led by skipper Ajinkya Rahane, has managed to reach the final and is now ready to lift the trophy in hand. However, a win against Vidarbha is necessary for this. Mumbai pushed the score towards 500 runs in the second innings with a lead going into the final session of the third day.
