No talks on ceasefire in Gaza! Joe Biden warned about Ramadan

He held 3 days of talks with Hamas regarding a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages, but no results emerged. The US, Qatar and Egypt have long tried to mediate an agreement.

US President Joe Biden warned on Tuesday that there would be a "great danger" if Israel and Hamas fail to reach a ceasefire agreement by the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Biden said a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip was in Hamas' hands in exchange for the release of Israeli hostages, but after a third day of talks there was no sign of progress.

He held 3 days of talks with Hamas regarding a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages, but no results emerged. The US, Qatar and Egypt have long tried to mediate an agreement.

Humanitarian relief assistance in Gaza

Under the agreement, Hamas will release 40 hostages during the month of Ramadan in exchange for a ceasefire. Israel will then have to release some Palestinian prisoners and provide humanitarian relief aid to Gaza. Two Egyptian officials said the 3-day meeting was over.

Refusal to release 100 hostages

He said that Hamas proposed that the mediator would hold talks with Israel in the coming days. Hamas has refused to halt Israeli offensives, withdraw troops from the area, and release a large number of Palestinian prisoners and all 100 hostages it is holding. Hamas spokesman Jihad Taha said talks are ongoing but now is Israel's time. Mediators expected an agreement to be reached before Ramadan, which would begin around March 10, depending on the sighting of the moon.
