In the T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan lost their first match badly and hosts USA created history by beating them in a sensational fashion. In the match played in Dallas, America created the first upset of the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating Pakistan in the Super Over. Playing in their first T20 World Cup, the USA first restricted Pakistan to just 160 runs before hitting a last-ball four to tie the match. After this, he did not allow Pakistan to score even 19 runs in the Super Over and won the match to register the biggest win in his cricket history.

In the super over, America batted first and Harmeet Singh came in to bat with Aaron Jones. Mohammad Amir bowled a super over for Pakistan but a poor line and sluggish fielding saw Pakistan concede 18 runs to USA. In reply, Iftikhar Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman came from Pakistan, while Saurabh Netrawalkar took over the bowling.

Iftikhar hit a four on the second ball but was dismissed on the third ball. After this, Pakistan got a leg by four. They needed 9 runs off the last 2 balls but Netrawalkar created history by conceding just 3 runs to restrict Pakistan to 13 runs.

Unlike Pakistan, USA had a good start. Steven Taylor (12) and captain Monank Patel put on 36 runs in 5 overs for the first wicket, after which Naseem Shah got the wicket of Taylor. Pakistan had a good chance to apply pressure here but it backfired. Captain Patel had a terrific partnership with last match hero Adrinj House. Both of them launched a measured attack against Pakistan, in which, along with amazing boundaries, they also scored quick singles and doubles.

Pakistan had a poor start and lost 3 wickets in the powerplay itself. If this was not enough the other big problem was the slow batting. Captain Babar Azam in particular looked perfectly composed and played an innings like a Test match. In the powerplay, the Pakistani team could score only 30 runs of which Babar scored only 4 runs in 14 balls. Here Shadab Khan attempted a counter-attack, with some success. While Babar had to wait for 25 balls to hit his first boundary.

Babar (44 runs, 43 balls) also picked up some pace again and hit some boundaries. Shadab (40 runs, 25 balls) and Babar put on a crucial partnership of 72 runs to take the team to 98 runs in the 13th over. Here, Shadab and Azam Khan were dismissed on consecutive balls. Soon Babar Azam also returned to the pavilion.

In the end Shaheen Shah Afridi (23) and Iftikhar Ahmed (18) scored some quick runs and somehow took the team to 160 runs. For America, spinner Nosatush Kenzige top-scored with 3 wickets while Saurabh Netrawalkar bowled most economically and took 2 wickets for just 18 runs.

From here Aaron Jones (36 not out) and Nitish Kumar were at the crease but the Pakistani pacers started to turn the match in their favour. America needed 15 runs in the last over but Haris Rauf could not win the team and conceded 14 runs to tie the match.
