Singhvi said that Kejriwal has no problem appearing before the ED but he should give an assurance that he will not be arrested. They need protection from arrest. Singhvi said that elections are coming and the objective of ED is very clear.

The ED investigating money laundering in the Delhi Excise Policy case has so far issued 9 summons to Kejriwal. But he did not appear before the ED even once. ED recently issued 9th summons to Kejriwal and summoned him for questioning on March 21. But even today he will not appear before the investigating agency. His lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi has already given this information.

On the ED's summons, Singhvi told the Delhi High Court on Wednesday that Kejriwal has no problem appearing before the ED, but he should give an assurance that he will not be arrested. They need protection from arrest. In fact, Kejriwal has challenged the ED's summons in the High Court calling it illegal. The court heard on Kejriwal's application on Wednesday.

The objective of ED is quite clear

During the hearing, the court asked whether Kejriwal would appear before the ED tomorrow. To this Arvind Kejriwal's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi replied “No”. Singhvi said that Arvind Kejriwal can go for questioning if the ED does not arrest him or the court orders no strict action. Singhvi said that elections are coming and the objective of ED is very clear.

Kejriwal termed ED's summons as illegal

Singhvi said that Sanjay Singh was also arrested without sending any notice. He told the High Court that ED has issued 9 summons. We entered all the answers. We have said we are ready to respond but virtually. Singhvi asked the agency whether he was being called as a witness or as an accused. On that the Delhi High Court said that it will be known only when you appear. Kejriwal has refused to appear before the investigating agency calling the ED summons illegal.
