However, Kane Williamson missed out on breaking Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar's record of fastest 31 centuries in Tests. Sachin completed his 31st Test century in 165 innings. While Williamson has done this in the 170th Test innings. However, he equaled Steve Smith. Smith also scored his 31st century in the 170th innings itself.

Kane Williamson's century in the second innings against South Africa is his sixth century in the last 6 Tests. Out of these 6 centuries, he has scored five centuries in his home ground i.e. New Zealand.
