Amitabh Bachchan founded ABCL by spending Rs 60.52 crore. Many of Amitabh's decisions regarding this company proved to be wrong. The company was heavily in debt. Amitabh said that he owes about Rs 90 crore to different people. The debt-ridden company eventually went bankrupt. With this, Amitabh also went bankrupt.

Many projects are involved in sinking this company of Amitabh. Made under the banner of ABCL, the film Mrityadata was a colossal flop. ABCL's second film 'Sat Rang Ke Sapne' also did not run. ABCL invested money in a film that could never be released. The name of the film was 'Naam Kya Hai'. ABCL also organized a gala Miss World show in Bengaluru. This show was also not successful. Due to this show, the company was caught in a financial crisis. Amitabh Bachchan had to listen to a lot during his bad times. Amitabh Bachchan said 'I will never forget how creditors used to come to our door, abuse and threaten us. What was worse than this was when they came to our house to confiscate the 'waiting'.
