After making waves on the cricket field, Mohammed Shami will enter the political field

Bharatiya Janata Party has proposed veteran fast bowler Mohammad Shami to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 from West Bengal. Mohammad Shami was India's most successful bowler in ODI World Cup 2023 last year with 24 wickets in just 7 matches. He was recently honored with the Arjuna Award.

According to BJP sources, Mohammad Shami was proposed to contest from West Bengal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.  There was also talk among BJP sources that by fielding Shami, the BJP could win minority seats in Bengal.

Hailing from Amroh in Uttar Pradesh, Shami plays for Bengal in domestic cricket. But due to that injury, Shami did not play any match after the ODI World Cup. Sources say that the BJP has already approached Mohammad Shami regarding this proposal. However, the final decision rests with Shami, who has currently undergone surgery and is on a break from cricket.

According to BJP sources, Mohammad Shami was proposed to contest from West Bengal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. There was also talk among BJP sources that by fielding Shami, the BJP could win minority seats in Bengal.

The date for the Lok Sabha elections has not been announced yet but it is believed that the elections may be held in April and May, BJP has announced the first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

According to BJP sources, BJP wants to field Shami from Basirhat Lok Sabha seat. This constituency is very sensitive right now with horrific cases of violence against women coming to light recently, it comes only in Basirhat seat. This constituency has the highest number of minority votes.

The date for the Lok Sabha elections has not been announced yet but it is believed that the elections may be held in April and May, BJP has announced the first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
