'A big leader has betrayed...', BJP MP questioned on UP results

BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Harnath Singh has expressed his surprise at the results of the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh and raised questions about his own party, alleging that some leaders had done insider work. He has said that it should be investigated.

The results of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are in and the Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged as the single largest party, but it has not secured an absolute majority. However, the NDA coalition under his leadership has got majority. The opposition is calling this victory as Narendra Modi's defeat. Meanwhile, a BJP MP has raised questions and alleged that some leaders have engaged in anti-party activities while staying within the party.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Harnath Singh Yadav says, 'I could not separate myself from the current political situation in Uttar Pradesh. I am sad because our party should have got atleast 75 seats in UP, where are we left behind? Our party leadership needs to think about this. The name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoes from house to house in villages, towns and cities. He has taken many important decisions for the country, done many things regarding Uttar Pradesh.

He said, 'Prime Minister has taken many beneficial schemes to the people. However, one needs to think deeply about where the mistake happened. Even though we got less seats, but people have faith in the Prime Minister and NDA will form the government. The party leadership needs to discuss what were the reasons for the loss and victory of each seat and why we lost…if any MLA or senior leader has betrayed the party, he has betrayed the party.

Naidu and Nitish Kingmaker

Here, 21 leaders from 14 parties, including TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde attended a meeting organized at the PM residence yesterday. This time Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar CM Nitish have emerged as kingmakers. There is a fierce debate about who can get a ministerial position in Narendra Modi's third government from Bihar. It is possible that new faces will be seen this time. It is reported that the JDU is eyeing a special package for Bihar in collaboration with the Ministry of Railways-Agriculture. JDU may demand 3 posts in the cabinet. Chirag Paswan and JDU may also clash over the railway ministry as Chirag Paswan also wants two ministerial posts. Chirag wants to play an important role in Bihar politics.

What are the major ministries at the centre?

Jitanram Manjhi may also seek ministerial post. In such a situation, BJP will have the option of making only one or two MPs from Bihar's quota as ministers. The 10 most powerful and largest ministries of the central government are home, defence, finance, external affairs, railways, information broadcasting, education, agriculture, road transport and civil aviation. Being the sole majority, the BJP retained all major divisions in 2019 and 2014. Many other smaller parties supporting the Modi government in its third term are also seeking ministerial berths at the Centre.
