He has demanded a ban on the film 'Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar'. The film is releasing on June 14. Karan has written in his petition that an attempt has been made to make fun of him through the name of the film.
Karan reaches the court
Film director Karan had approached the Bombay High Court against the makers of 'Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar'. He says that the makers of the film should be prevented from using his name. On Wednesday, a case was presented before a bench of Justice RI Chhagla seeking an immediate ban on the release of the film. The film is releasing on 14 June 2024. The bench has allowed it and will hear the petition tomorrow i.e. Thursday for immediate relief.
Karan Johar filed a case in the High Court against writer-director Bablu Singh along with producers India Pride Advisory and Sanjay Singh through DSK Legal. The case sought an injunction against Sanjay and others to permanently ban the use of their names in the film's title.
Misuse of his name
In the lawsuit, Karan claimed that he has nothing to do with the film and its makers, who are illegally using his name in the film's title. He said that his name is directly mentioned in the title of the film, which violates his personality rights, publicity and privacy rights. Karan also claimed that the producers are taking advantage of his goodwill and reputation by misusing his 'brand name', which is not legally acceptable.
The film is low budget
Karan said in the lawsuit that the film is going to release in theaters on June 14 and the trailer and poster of the film have been released publicly and on social media. These trailers and posters have completely damaged Karan's reputation and credibility.
Further such release of the film incorporating his brand name “Karan Johar” either in whole or in pieces would cause irreparable damage to his goodwill and reputation. Which he has earned by working hard and investing his precious time, effort and money.
'Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar' is a low budget film. In which Aman Singh Deep, Parth Akerkar, Monica Rathore, Amit Lekhwani are in lead roles.
