Violence breaks out over reservation in Bangladesh, 39 killed in protests so far
Under the current reservation system, 56 per cent government jobs are reserved, of which 30 per cent are for descendants of 1971 freedom fighters, 10 per cent for backward administrative districts, 10 per cent for women, five per cent for jobs. One percent is reserved for ethnic minority groups and persons with disabilities.
There is an uproar in Bangladesh regarding reservation. Violence broke out in many places, including Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. So far 39 people have died in this violence while hundreds have been injured. Witnesses said protesters surrounded the state-run Bangladesh Television building in Dhaka's Rampura area and damaged its facade.

Also, many vehicles parked there were set on fire. Due to which many employees including journalists were trapped there. In fact, university students in Dhaka and other cities have been holding rallies for days against the system of reserving certain jobs for relatives of war heroes who fought for the country's independence from Pakistan in 1971.
More than 2500 people injured
Meanwhile, at least 18 people were killed and more than 2,500 injured in clashes between protesters, law enforcement agencies and people from the ruling party across the country. The northern area of the capital, where many private universities are located, saw major clashes between protesters and police.
Most of the dead were students
Authorities did not immediately release the identities of those killed, but reports indicated that most of the dead were students. Six people died earlier on Tuesday. Meanwhile, one more death was reported last night, bringing the total death toll to 25 since the protests began more than a week ago.
